Delicious Pizza Purveyors Near Norwich

There are many foodie delights to enjoy in Norfolk and Suffolk these days. So while Norfolk may be best known for its stunning coastline and historic sites, it’s also home to some fantastic pizzerias. From traditional classics to innovative mashups of flavours, the county offers a slice for every picky palate. We’ve selflessly sampled some local venues, where customers can indulge in cheesy, saucy goodness in charming settings.

Brick Pizza, Norwich Market

First on our list, Brick Pizza is tucked away on the side of the iconic Norwich Market. Brick Pizza has quickly become a local favourite for authentic Neapolitan-style pizzas, both with its city centre restaurant and growing supply line of pizzas to some of the best food venues in Norfolk and nationwide. Dining here is a very social experience with an intimate charm consisting of exposed brick walls and an open kitchen. It’s well worth queuing outside as soon as you know you want to dine, as this place is as popular as they come. We’d highly recommend grabbing a window seat to people-watch while dining.

Brick Pizza prides itself on using high-quality, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Their oven produces a heat of about 500 °c and the blast cooking process, they claim, locks in the flour’s natural aroma and moisture. As a result, the raised edge (cornicione) is as delicious as the topping. If you’re after authentic taste, this is possibly the best pizza available – short of hopping on an EasyJet to Italian shores!

Menu highlights: Customers can’t go wrong with any choice from their Classics menu, but for something more adventurous, try the “Bee Sting” pizza. If this special is available it features tomato, mozzarella, nduja, pepperoni chunks, fresh chillis, and chilli honey – Delicious. Just remember to ask for some extra chilli oil to really spice things up! They also have their own app for deliveries to your own home, often with 15% off codes for discounts.

Donnelli’s, Norwich

Located close to Castle Mall, one of the most convenient places to park in Norwich, Donnelli’s offers a slice of Italy with its traditional dough, toppings and wood-fired pizzas reminiscent of those from Campania. Visitors stepping in from the sloped Timberhill will find a homely eatery complete with checkered tablecloths and welcoming trattoria staff. Donnelli’s pizzas have characteristic smoked flavours that work well with the range of Italian wines they regularly have on offer. As a great addition, if you have your own pizza oven, the friendly, attentive staff will also prepare a batch of dough for you to take home and bake your own.

Menu highlights: The Amalfi topped with mozzarella, gorgonzola & Parmigiano Reggiano, is a must for those blue cheese lovers. Those considering a seafood twist could opt for the Vinezia with mozzarella, tuna, black olives, onion & rocket – Bellissimo!

The Jolly Sailor, North Norfolk Coast

For pizza with a view, head to The Jolly Sailor in the village of Brancaster on the North Norfolk Coast. This charming pub, popular with holidaymakers and cyclists, offers stunning seaside vistas and delicious pizza options – alongside a more general “Jolly Classics” menu. The Jolly Sailor combines great pizza with a traditional pub atmosphere and beautiful coastal views. It is potentially the ideal pizza spot for a relaxed meal after a day at the beach. Particularly considering they regularly have events and live shanty music too!

Menu highlights: Try the seafood special in the form of the Prawn Zinger, topped with prawns, Mozzarella, anchovies, red onion and chilli. Alternatively, for something zany and away from the norm, why not venture the Jolly Taco. This unique pizza offering consists of smokehouse chilli venison, mozzarella, red onion, fresh tomato, jalapeños, crushed taco and sour cream.

saporita pizza slice norwich

Saporita, Norwich

Sitting atop the cobbled streets near Cinema City, Saporita brings a taste of Naples to Norwich with its authentic Neapolitan pizzas. The small, no-frills venue lets the quality of the food speak for itself with huge 16” pizzas sliced up and served by the slice. This unique option allows customers to try a few toppings at a reasonable price, as recently mentioned on Channel 4’s Bargain Holidays series.  We regularly pop in for a slice before a film at Cinema City or when needing fuel to explore the city more. Consistently Neapolitan taste and perfectly blistered crusts make this place a must.

Menu highlights: The Bufala, topped with creamy buffalo mozzarella, is a must-try. For newbies, simply sampling a slice of Margherita at just over a fiver is a decadent treat. Check out their aperitivo offering as well if you want to enjoy a casual drink and nibbles with a friend.

Slice & Dice, Norwich

Okay, you’ve got us (this is not technically a pizza venue), but with a name like Slice & Dice, we felt this unique Norwich venue that combines great vegan food with board games was well worth slipping into this list. This quirky venue is perfect for a fun night out with friends or family looking to chat, roleplay, game or just escape the world outside. With over 300 board games available to play while you dine, Slice & Dice entertains and refuels the soul with friendly staff, laughs and banter.

Menu highlights: The sticky sesame mushrooms compliment the house fries well, while the themed “Catan Burger” (a beef-style burger in brioche with lettuce, tomato, gherkins, burger sauce and cheese) is a fan favourite inspired by the Settlers of Catan game.

Voodoo Daddy’s Showroom, Norwich

Now located on London Street, Voodoo Daddy’s Showroom (part of Gonzos) offers a unique twist on pizza, combining American-style pies with live music and events. This vibrant venue is perfect for those wanting a hybrid of 90’s arcade madness, music and arts events and delicious, honest grub! If you’re looking for dinner and entertainment with great vibes and a buzzing atmosphere, Voodoo Daddy’s is the place. They have a whole host of delicious pizza options with around 10 vegan and veggie-specific options when we last checked.

Menu highlights: If you’re brave enough, try the ‘Death Star,’ which in their words “has enough spice to kill a donkey and one takes no prisoners”. This spicy delight is topped with Death Star Sauce, pepperoni, smoked red bell peppers, jalapeños and red onion. Their great concepts for pizzas carry on in the veggie and vegan list with their mighty “Conan The Veganian” answering the call of Valhalla. This mega meal is topped with bucket loads of broccoli, roasted cauliflower, rich chunks of jackfruit, and mushrooms – all served up on a smokey BBQ base.

The Green Grocers, Earlham Road, Norwich

The Green Grocers on Earlham Road is not just a grocery store – it’s also home to some of Norwich’s best organic pizzas. This environmentally and ethically conscious venue offers a laid-back atmosphere perfect for a casual meal. We’ve frequently visited here on a Friday for a treat after a long week to enjoy their discounted pizza and a pint offer. With a huge range of pizza options, including specials displayed on the board to the right as customers enter, this is an often overlooked culinary gem.

The Green Grocers uses organic, locally sourced ingredients for their pizzas, appealing to health-conscious and environmentally-aware diners. They also offer a range of vegan and gluten-free options for those dining in or taking away. If visiting during the day before the main service, enjoy a coffee instead while checking out the large range of delights on offer in the grocers located in the adjoining section of the building.

Menu highlights: The ‘Goat’s Cheese and Caramelized Onion’ pizza is a customer favourite. For meat lovers, the ‘Spicy Sausage’ pizza packs a flavourful punch.

Luca Pizza, Warwick Arms and Mobile

We first sampled the tasty delights of Luca Pizza via a pop-up they had outside The Red Lion at Bishopsgate. Now based in a permanent location at the Warwick Arms pub, this venture offers versatility with its continued mobile pizza van for events bringing delicious pizzas to hungry customers across Norfolk. A popular choice for weddings and parties, their consistently excellent pizzas and friendly service mean enjoying alongside a pint at The Warwick Arms or van-side around the county, Luca’s pizzas never disappoint!

Menu highlights: The ‘Porkobello’ is an interesting option topped with prosciutto, mushroom and truffle oil, while ‘The Don’ is a bold, flavoursome choice topped with salami Milano, Sicilian sausage, onion, black olives and parmesan.
